Rethinking Legacy & Memory:
Behind the Image of Ulysses S. Grant
Rethinking Legacy and Memory: Behind the Image of Ulysses S. Grant is an investigation of legacy, public image, and identity through the life, and death, of Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885). The objects in the exhibition, ranging from gifts from ambassadors to newspaper clippings, recall both Grant’s highly public career and devotion to his family. Visitors are invited to explore their own interior and exterior lives through Grant. The objects featured in this exhibition were donated by Ulysses S. Grant III, the grandson of General Grant and vice president of George Washington University from 1946 to 1951. [info]
